Luck

Sorry for not posting for a loooong time! I wasn't able to get internet connection in Australia.

On the day I left for Australia, I had a series of fortunes and misfortunes. Firstly, I overslept, hence I was only woken up by my part-time job Japanese kid and father ringing my doorbell. So after my baito, I packed as much stuff as I could and ran to the train station. (Did I bathe? Sorry no!) eeeeew!

Me and Hanna took the regular skyline train from Nippori to Narita International Airport (which took an hour). When we checked in, to our surprise, the lady told us we were is Business class. We couldn't believe it!!! We our upgrade was the 10 hour flight from Seoul to Sydney! Whee!
Upon arriving in Seoul, we first shopped around and then headed for the "exclusive Business lounge." What did we find there? A BUFFET!!!! Haha! In ilonggo we have a word called "buke" meaning "acting like a probinsyano". And that is what me and Hanna exactly did. Stuffed ourselves with the food, drinks and other stuff they had to offer! Business class was divine. Probably the only other person to fly business class among the sibs would have been Nowd when he travelled to Singapore!

Australia was nice! Unfortunately, we got stuck mainly in Canberra, which is booooring. Why? All the stores close a 5 pm! And my conference sessions ended a 5:15. Dang! It is a nice place to do research in, but not really a nice place to travel. I even found two comic stores which were closed at 5 pm! Egad!!!! :P

A highlight of this trip was our first meal in Sydney. I recently watched a BBC show on 50 meals to each before you die. One of them was Harry's meat pie! Honestly, it tasted like empanada, with a huge glob of mashed green peas on top!
Another was eating in a restaurant we would probably not find in Tokyo. So me and Hanna ate at a Belgian resto. I had the beer-soaked sausages and a side order of Belgian fries. Unfortunately, the serving sizes were HUUUGE. So I had to force myself to finish the entire thing, else I wasted money. Aside from this, I tried Belgian fruit beer ( I got apple) which actually tasted like apple soda with alcohol in it!

The bad thing about relying on your cell phone's digicam is that eventually the battery goes dead. And since the voltage difference between Australia and Japan was huge (240 to 110) I wasn't able to take anymore pictures afterwards.

To celebrate Ker Wee's passing of the JLPT Level 2, we ate at a chinese noodle place. I ordered something unusual (in my opinion). Tomato and Cheese ramen. The tomato was slightly frozen to withstand the warm soup, and the cheese was mozzarella with parmesan. The soup was spicy but because of the tomato and cheese, it was neutralized. So what did it taste like? watery pasta! :P

My postings might be infrequent nowadays since I will be studying for the entrance exams this coming March!

Now I understand why we have korean chocolates! Uber thanks! The dates and orange choco were soooo good! Although I can't stand the kamote flavor. XDD I SWEAR. The chilli flavor was okay, but better only if it were in hot chocolate. lol.
