Interesting twist for a Sunday

Last Thursday, for our Cross-cultural class, we went to the Suntory Beer Brewery for a tour! Everything was done in Japanese, so I only understood very little. Interesting thing was that the Brewery is a zero-waste factory. All of their waste is converted to something else which the factory will use or sell. Here is a funny sample of Japanese English, this can be found in every can of the regular Suntory beer! :P

At the end of the tour, we were treated to free beer (two glasses). One was the regular beer and the other was their premium beer. I opted not to drink since I was still meeting Natsuka-san after.

So I ended up getting the Suntory Juice (its a mixed fruit juice) and some beer nuts!

In the afternoon, I had my tutorial session, as usual. And Natsuka-san brought manjuu. It was nice. The outer texture was a bit powdery, but the inside is more fine. If you look and the picture, it seems like the inside looks like egg. It tasted like egg, but according to Natsuka-san, it isn't egg.

This Sunday, I'm usually early for mass since I live so far. Hanna approached me to ask if I could be the Second Reading reader for this mass since the person who was supposed to didn't show up. I was fine with it!

After the mass, everyone complimented me for my reading (which is good). But what was weird was that outside the Church, as I was waiting for the light to change, two causcasians (probably American) struck up a conversation with me:

Guy: Were you the reader for the mass?
Me: Yes.
Guy: You read very well. Where are you from.
Me: Philippines.
Guy: Ah. (turning to his friend) Figures. (turning back to me) You have a nice accent!
Me: Thank you!

Oh well. The people wanted me to read again. I am schedule to read on the 25 June, since I signed up for that one!

Re: the Engrish...if that phrase were in Japanese, would probably read better. Although I can't remember what "fulfillment" is in Japanese at the moment. ^_^

It's good that you remembered your meeting and thus decided not to drink. Very responsible of you. ^_^V

Congrats on the good reading! Papa and Mama will surely be pleased to know this, and you getting compliments too, from people afterwards was great. ^_^

Suntory Beer is the brand used in the movie "Lost in Translation" --

How was the beer nuts?

re: Reading at Church -- parents will be so happy to hear about that.

(When they found out Johann was an altar boy in HS, their eyes lit up.)
