I was sooo stupid to forgot the beauty of Chikka Text! A couple of days ago, I downloaded it and was able to finally communicate more frequently with my sibs and parents! I was also able to communicate with CH via text!
Last night, CH and her friends invited me to dinner on their last night in Tokyo. Before leaving for Yoyogi, I wanted to give them something special, since 5 May is Children's day. I wanted to buy them Okashi (traditional Japanese sweets and snacks) but couldn't seem to find the one my sensei told me.
So I went to Shinjuku in the hopes of finding okashi there. Interesting things I found inside Shinjuku station:
1. 7D dried Mangoes selling from Y400 - Y500
2. Ekiben, the traditional one (Train station bento which varies from station to station)
3. No-stick dessert (To those who read Iron Wok Jan!)
4. Lots of okashi (but not the one I wanted to get)
I got them one box of Sazae-san (manga)-themed cookies, a token Hello Kitty-themed mini-cakes with filling and a pack shaped like a carp which is given to children during Kodomo do hi (Children's Day).
It turns out that Rolf (tama ba?) was going to treat them to this restaurant he knew about. The facade didn't seem appealing, but when you go inside it smelled great. It was an EAT-ALL-YOU-CAN thing! The set up was pretty simple, there is a grill in from of a table good for four people. You can order any three meats at one time and bottomless rice for 90 minutes. I thought that it was a rip off at first since we have to cook our food (cooking times) but after the meal everyone was sooo full! I think I ate more meat in this dinner than my entire stay in Japan. Every type of meat was marinated. But Rolf was playing safe and order beef, chicken and pork. I really loved it when I was a bit charred, especially near the end of the meal when the grill was full of fat! hehe! They also had a dipping sauce, I don't know what it was, but it complimented the meats perfectly. It didn't overpower the meats at all! I really love the beef since they were cut thinly and cooked a bit faster, unlike the chicken (which scared me at first), since the chicken meat was a bit plump and some parts didn't lay flat on the grill!
Anyway, the entire meal was Deelish! Thanks CH! They also gave me a hodge podge of food. Oatmeal (yay!), Milo (yay!), Chocnut (yay!), Trailbars (Wow!), Tuna (yay!), Oreos (YUMMY!) and an opened pack of strepsils (haha!) Thanks Lai!
On another note: the Izakaya (bar) where Dolf celebrated his birthday was Tori Yakitori
New Manga that I got:
1. Ramen Hakkenden
2. Le Chef Cuisinier de L'Ambassadeur
3. Yakitate! Japan vol. 2 (which has the bread recipe with a rice cooker), I'll try this out sometime!
I bought Weizen Brot yesterday (Wheat bread, according to Dolf, Thanks!) Got 24 slices for a whole loaf!

Nice that you're finding all sorts of things over there (like the no-stick dessert from Iron Wok Jan) that we only previously read about in manga. ^_^
Glad that you're really enjoying the food, especially the meat. hehe
Good luck with your Yakitate bread-rice cooker project. ^_^V
