Anyway...I spent summer vacation travelling A LOT! Thanks to my parents! My first stop was Singapore where I was treated to a HUUUGE meal by Carol. A Singaporean friend whom I met in the Australian conference I went to this year. She is also coming to Japan on October to study at Rikkyo. Anyway, aside from eating my favorites, I left it to Carol to stuff me with food I needed to eat in Singapore. (My staples would be black carrot cake, char kuey tiao and laksa). I had rojak, hokkien mee, oyster cake, an herbal soup (which was refreshing ...Iron Wok Jan reference...haha) and fishhead curry. It was great food with great company.
My next stop was KL. In terms of food, I wasn't as adventurous this time around since I was stuck in the KLCC area. (very nice place though). I was happy to meet Nomi's sensei Toda-sensei who often goes to KL to teach Japanese. She brought me to Aquaria, the aquarium in KLCC. It was beautiful, but there were some exhibits where I felt pity for the animals. (Rules and Southeast Asians = what rules) Anyway, this would be another story. Obviously, when in KL you have to go to the Petronas towers....well...not exactly....but this is a cool pic.
Went home to Iloilo...one thing that really changed was our new airport. But anyway, going home = things I have to do for mother. One of the few things was to have my yearly free check-up thanks to the insurance the parents got for me. Before I left for Japan, I did the same thing all the way in Alabang...but had a free sumptuous breakfast with Toad in Shangri-la. This time around, had breakfast with the parents. As usual, after receiving the bill, mother gave her usual "ang mahal" statement. hehe!
Another reason I went home was to meet our first third-gen Seth. A very willful baby, but fun to be with. He isn't as irritating as other babies are, and seems to be a people-person baby. The sisters say he is like me with my shquares. I had to correct them. Seth, sucks the very life out of the edges of his favorite spuh (which is shquare-shaped) while I simple rub the edges. Also Seth is a drooly baby....like a slug....and I don't exaggerate here. A fresh bib would probably last a minute or two dry with him.
On another note, I went to Bohol to escort Ken-kun (the Japanese kid I tutored english to) and his mom. Just a cool pic I took on the lake ride there.
Back here, met up with Cheska and Lara to attend the ASEAN fair held in Lara's dorm. Stuffed myself silly with cornik...yes cornik....can't help it. As what Johann said...I come from the land of the salty and overly sweet. haha!
