Just a continuation of my birthday, the A-Class gave me two Japanese cookbooks. One is in the form of a diary, which tells me what are appropriate things to cook per season, the other one is a standard (but cute) Japanese recipe book!
For my birthday, I spent it at Derya's place. She basically cooked everything, but I brought "Birthday Noodles" which I tried to cook. Tried being the operative word. For one, I bought the wrong type of noodle. The recipe called for misua, and I thought I bought misua, but it ended up like bihon. Secondly, I prepared too much toppings, so it was actually toppings with noodles. Hehe! By the second day, I still had some leftovers, and we were having dinner at Nomi's place, so I brought the leftover noodles and cooked a packet of the champorado I got from the family.
It was also this day that Bac and his wife gave me a long sleeve shirt (Made from Vietnam) as a birthday present! :)
For the passed week, I've been busy with the entrance ceremonies and whatnot for the incoming year. The weirdest thing was the 入学式 (Nyuugakushiki) or enttrance ceremony where everyone was supposed to where formal clothes and hear speeches from university officials. Taking from the experience of my senpai, Siao, I opted not to wear formal attire, since the ceremony was for only one hour and I didn't want to wear my barong.
As for food, there was a soup curry restaurant that I always wanted to try in daigakudori. So for lunch, me, Diaby and Derya went and ate there. An interesting feature of the restaurant is that you can adjust the spiciness of the food from 0 - 100. I tried 50 which was the spiciest (I think) I could eat. They also had a promotion where every customer had a chance of winning an I-pod shuffle. I got a pen! haha!
