Last Day of Class and Hanabi

It has been a looong time since I type anything here. I have been studying for my tests so I haven't been updating recently.

First and foremost, I officially ABHOR coffee! Last Tuesday night, I OD-ed in coffee, and it was a very BAD experience. Wednesday was a mock exam for Kanji and I wanted to make a good impression, plus I haven't been studying kanji recently, so I had to brush up. I planned an all-nighter and I heard from Ker Wee that this particular Nescafe bottled coffee was very effective. Hence I bought two 900 ml. bottles. During the night, everytime, I felt sleepy or almst dozed off, I drank a couple of sips. I ended up, drinking an entire bottle and a quarter. The next day was sooooo terrible! I couldn't sleep and felt like collapsing. I ended up sleeping at the beginning of class. No coffee will pass through these lips ever again! But on the plus side I got 97/100.

For the finals I was quiet happy with my scores. Grammar: 75/100 Kanji 97/100 (again) Listening 20/25. My grammar still sucks, that is why I'm going to study for it during the summer break. Although it is a huge leap from my 69/100 scores everytime we have a test.

The first picture is in Raj Mahal. An Indian Restraurant in Shinjuku where Tanaka-sensei and Kitaoka-sensei treated all of us! The food was so good. But I had to eat a bit less since after this, we had to go to Ishiguro-sensei's house for dinner.

The next picture embarrassed all of us, but also shows you the length of Japanese-ness. We ended up buying a watermelon for Ishiguro-sensei. In the counter, I simply asked the cashier to remove the price. But Derya-san accidentally said that it was a present, so after we paid for it, they brought it to the gift wrapping section. Even the ladies were surprised. They did a great job though! haha! Since everyone was slightly embarrassed to carry it, I ended up doing so!

The other pictures are homemade umeshou (Katya), unagi fried rice of sorts and a cake which Ishiguro-sensei bought of the occasion!

Saturday, I ended up going to the Hanabi or Fireworks display in Asakusa with Hanna! Hanabi usually occurs to signal the beginning of summer in Japan! I went early, fearing that there would be a crowd. And I was right! God! packed trains! I went to do some shopping before meeting up with Hanna and June (Hanna's friend from Church). While waiting, I treated myself to an ichigo miruku (strawberry milk) ice cream. :) We weren't really at a good vantage point, but I was quiet happy to experience it!

re: the Coffee -- before you swear off coffee completely, try UCC first?

(Funny bit, though -- a liter of coffee. @_@)

Well...coffee in moderation. ^^ It's you younger sibs that are the coffee buffs anyway (I never touch the stuff. Tried it once and I couldn't park. LOL)

However, congrats on your test results! Steady improvement. ^_^

Nice pun on the Indian resto. ^^ Did you have paneer? Curry? How is the quality and taste compared to New Bombay Food and Bollywood?

Loved the watermelon story. XD I told it to Mama and Seth's yaya Rosalie. :P Judging by the picture, it does look well-wrapped. ^_^

Ooh~ umeshu! And nice that the rice is in that container (Tin and I watched a j-dorama recently with a dinner scene featuring such a thing).

The cake looks yummy! And interesting-looking ice cream cone. The fireworks must've looked spectacular live. I read somewhere that there was also a similar display in Tokyo bay?

Haha! The funny thing is that UCC isn't considered a "good" coffee here. They consider it as instant coffee. :)

Too bad they didn't have paneer in the Indian restaurant! But I loved the stuff. They toned down the spices a bit for Japanese tastes which is fine for me!

This is the Tokyo bay hanabi. Unfortunately we weren't able to come close the bay since it was PACKED with people!
