It has been a looong time since I last posted. I guess I've been a bit tooo busy studying for Kanji! Oh well. The cafeteria was closed for two days so we had no choice but to go out to eat. Everyone wanted a fast place to eat so, we went to Mo's Burger. I had the Taco Rice. Looked good and tasted good. Actually, My friends tell me that the Mo's burger here in Kunitachi is special since it offers some items which are not offered anywhere else. But I'm not really a fast food person (American-type that is) right now, so I don't really try them out! But I did notice that they sold Mo's Burger merchandise which is cute. I'm just restraining myself!Last Friday, all of us had a party at the dorm. Each was supposed to cook their home dishes. I was supposed to make minatamis na saba, but didn't find any saba sold at Church last week. So I made Japan No. 2 and a modified leche flan. But since we didn't have an oven, I tried to fashion a make-shift steamer. It still tasted a bit eggy, so I tried to cover the flavor with carmelized strawberry jam! It was fine, though. On another note, I made Japan no. 2 and found out I ran out of bread flour. So I used pancake flour! The dough ended up tooo watery to form into a ball. But I cooked it anyway. It turned out to be a sweet bread (I also added the juice on one lime and some lime peel). The gang loooved it! Angel made a yogurt soup, which was perfect with Nami's spicy curry. I loooved Derya's dish which was soooo simpy. Chopped onions, tomatoes, eggplant and a bit of chili paste with olive oil! sooooo delish! Ker Wee made a chinese dish which was tomatoes and eggs. Flora made two chinese soups! loved them as well!

I read that Japan is a wrapping culture and this is VEEERY environmentally unfriendly. Take this example. I went shopping one rainy day and my shopping bag had a specially made plastic cover to prevent the contents from getting wet! Interesting deshou!

LOL I see your modified leche flan with strawberry jam in the 3rd picture. ^_^
And well, if your shopping bag didn't have a plastic cover, the contents would indeed get wet. hehe ^_~
If you want to make leche flan again, you can put it in the oven. Place the leche flan tin in a shallow pan of water and let the whole thing bake.
For some strange reason, Raf and Florie seem to believe that you are a very good baker. O_O
Your pancake flour-Japan #2 recipe seems to show otherwise. ^_^;;;
Regarding my cooking fiascos haha! I know! I made an excuse that that is how Philippine flan is supposed to taste like! haha! Unfortunately, we don't have an oven here. Just a microwave which I don't know how to use yet!
The plastic even has holes for the handles!
I am a good baker! at least of Japan no.2. hehe! I'm going to try to make pan de sal probably in the weekend.
